What is A Reveal & Order Meeting?

CLJ_180930_214.jpg

After your session has taken place at your favourite location with your favourite pups we will schedule your Reveal & Order meeting! Next to the session itself, this what my clients say is the most exciting part of the Wet Nose experience! It's the day they get to see the final images from the session for the first time and decide which ones they want to display in their home.

By the time the Reveal meeting arrives, you and I have already discussed the wall art and album options that I offer and you've been envisioning how you want to display your images. You've received my pricing guide and we've talked about general sizing and grouping options for portraits on the wall. But this is the big day where it all finally becomes real!

We meet up at a quiet coffee shop, grab a warm drink, and sit down together. I turn my iPad towards you, and there is your pup’s beautiful face on the screen. This is usually when I hear a squeak of delight and your hands fly to your face. Those furry faces are your absolute favourites and you've been so excited for this moment all week. As the images slowly flip through in a slideshow, you "ohhh" and "awww" over them. We get to the final image… and and you start to wonder how you're ever going to decide on your favourites.

But don't worry! I'm here to help. We look through the images a second time and mark each one as either Yes, Maybe, or No. That way you'll have a collection of Yeses and Maybes and we'll just concentrate on those ones as we move forward. We then talk about your favourite product options again. I offer beautiful floating prints, acrylic prints, and framed canvases for the wall, as well as luxurious coffee table albums. You tell me you've always loved canvases, and you think your parents would love a floating print for their home (can't forget the grandpawrents!), plus you've also been eyeing the coffee table album I brought with me, too. I show you what a few of your Yes images will look like on your own wall - you’ve given me a picture of your living room so that we can select an appropriate size for your space.

You decide on one that fits the feeling and the colors of your room best! There's another sweet image that you choose for your parents' Christmas gift, and by this point you just know you need that album so you can take home the rest of your favourites. The 15-image album is the perfect fit because you ended up selecting that many images in your Yes pile! I will design the album to fit all the portraits beautifully, and it will be ready for you in a few weeks. Today might have felt like Christmas... but just wait until you have these products in your hands!

Taking photos of your dogs is so important - they are our family and they are loved fiercely. Even if you're taking photos with your smartphone, it's still so important! We never know what life has in store for us and you don't want to regret not taking more photos of your sweet pups. Of course, when you also have the opportunity to hire a professional photographer, that's even better! Decorate your home with photos that bring you joy and celebrate the special souls you cherish.

Ambassadogs: Peggy's Cove

September’s group session with my 2018 Ambassadogs was at Peggy’s Cove! I don’t go there very often, so it’s always nice to enjoy a beautiful evening right on the water and away from the city.

They practiced posing on benches, docks, and big rocks. And our backdrops included colourful buildings, boats, the lighthouse, and that gorgeous sunset. This was such a fun session!

Here are some of my favourite photos from that evening! They definitely have an east coast feel :)

Diesel - Frenchie Cuteness Overload!

I absolutely love how all the connections I’ve made over the last few years in business have all intertwined and led to even more connections!

Back in 2015 I photographed a very sweet French Bulldog named Maple, and got along well with her wonderful mum. I didn’t cross paths with her again for a few years, but then discovered she works at Planet Paws! She then enrolled her new pup, Bismarck, as one of my Ambassadogs in 2017 so we got to catch up again and I found out that her dream of becoming a French Bulldog breeder was finally happening for her. So exciting!

Through the Ambassadog program that year she connected with one of my other wonderful clients, who then ended up bringing one of the puppies from that first Frenchie litter home. That puppy was Dante, who is an Ambassadog this year!

And just last month, one of Dante’s littermates, Diesel, had his very own Wet Nose session!

I hope I didn’t lose you with that story and the various connections! But it’s so cool to see how small and connected this dog owner community is here, and how many wonderful people and dogs I get to meet (and photograph)! I feel so lucky and so happy to be doing what I do.

Alright, and without any further ado, I want to show you some of Diesel’s portraits from his session at Fisherman’s Cove! He’s only about 8 months old, but he was a fast learner and got right into his modeling career. Check him out!

Tod and Memphis: Camping Dogs Photo Session

Tod and Memphis are best buds, even though they seem like complete opposites. Tod the Beagle is eager to pose but always looks quite serious. He's also a little guy. Memphis the Bernese towers over him and always has the happiest, goofiest grin on his face. They are the most adorable duo and I absolutely loved photographing them!

For their photo session, their mum loved the idea of a camping theme. So we found a beautiful park beside a lake and set them up with their own little camp for their photo shoot!

Do your dogs love camping with you? What's their favourite part of a camping trip?

Ambassadogs: Rainbow Haven Beach

My amazing Ambassadogs enjoyed another adventure and photo shoot this month, and this time we went to Rainbow Haven!

All 5 of this year's Ambassadogs were there and they had so much fun together. When we first arrived we went to a more secluded section of the beach and let the pups get their sillies out. We encouraged them to play in the water, too, which was hilarious and adorable. Then we explored some of the grassier areas for a change of scenery and color! Just before 8pm (when the parking lot is gated!) we did some running photos on the boardwalk, and then drove down the road just a little so that we could enjoy the beautiful sunset and soak up those last golden rays of the day.

These pups are SO sweet and are quickly becoming best buds. Doing these Ambassadog sessions is a great way for me to explore new locations and practice some ideas I've been wanting to shoot, and it's just a wonderful time for us to spend a fun evening together!

If you want to be first on the list to get details about next year's Ambassadog program, make sure to get on the Wet Nose Images email list. Those on the list always get first dibs on the good stuff, as well as getting updates about blog posts, fun tips for photography, and pup stuff! Find the green signup box at the bottom of this page (after you enjoy all these sweet faces) and join the list.

And the collars for this session were provided by Missy Leigh Canines! They all have a nautical theme - anchors, beach balls, and sea animals. So adorable!

So without further ado, and in order of appearance... here are Ember, Norbert, Gilbert, Dante, and Haven:

Puppies Puppies Puppies!

Last weekend I got to meet and photograph the most adorable litter of 8 golden retriever puppies! They were so energetic and curious, and were bouncing all over the place. They are going to their new homes very soon, to start a great new adventure!

They've been loved and cared for since birth by Madison and her family (from 2 Paws Up)!

Have they given you puppy fever? ;)

Ambassadogs: Graffiti Walls

This year the Ambassadog program has gotten some exciting upgrades!!

My Wet Nose Ambassadogs are year-long brand reps for my business and they get one heck of a fun experience out of it! Each pup is treated to their own complimentary portrait session, along with a bunch of awesome perks.

One of the best new perks is that we all meet up for several group photo sessions at fun and unique locations during our year together. This gives the dogs an opportunity to play together, it allows the owners to get to know each other, and it's great for us all to just spend some time together and create more portraits!

For our first group session we visited the graffiti walls that I love in Dartmouth. Three of my Ambassadogs joined me for this session: Dante, Haven, and Ember! It was great practice for them to explore a new location, work on their sit/stays, and have fun being silly together. Dante and Ember (Frenchie and Mini Aussie) became best buds right away and zoomed around the grassy area. Haven the Sheltie is a bit more reserved, but we got her running soon, too.

At one point a train came by, about 30 feet from where we were, so all the pups practiced their sits and waited for it to pass. Two people walked by us and one remarked, "This must be an obedience, class, is it?"

I told her, "Nope, it's a photo shoot!" and she was impressed at how good they all were. That always makes pup parents so proud to hear.

And now for the best part... here are my favourite images from this group session!

Roller Derby ... Dogs!

I'm part of an amazing roller derby league in Halifax (not an active skater right now, but it will happen again!) and I've been wanting to photograph some of the skaters with their dogs. I finally organized it this month and we went to a fantastic spot with graffiti walls. I'm thrilled with all of these portraits!

The difference in all of these dogs is so cool to see - big dogs, small dogs, confident dogs, older dogs... they're all so different and special. I know we have so few photos of us with our dogs (we're always just photographing the dogs). So I'm happy to be able to to provide these photos of pups and their people enjoying their time together.

If you've been wanting a few more portraits of you and your dog together, reach out and let's make some plans! My sessions are focused on the dog for the most part, but I'm always happy to include you with the pups for a few special photos.

Don't these pups just melt your heart?

When was the last time you got a photo of yourself and your dog together?

Get Dirty Dog Collars & Leashes | Product Photography

We use a 30-foot leash for Ruby when we go for adventures outside of our neighbourhood. Fields and beaches can be so much fun... but so dirty. And with a fabric leash that drags along the ground, we end up bringing lots of that water, dirt, and mud home. Not to mention the other things it accidentally drags through. Blech.

But I am thrilled to have a new option that avoids ALL of that! I did a product shoot for Get Dirty Collars & Leashes last weekend, and it was so much fun. Colleen runs this new local business and you can find her at trade shows and on Facebook. These leashes don't absorb any of the gunk you encounter on your adventures. They rinse off so easily! I now have a new 30-foot leash for Ruby, and a thin black leash to bring with me to sessions (it's easier to edit out).

I was so happy to throw out our old, stinky leash!!

Take a look at these hilarious cuties I hung out with on the weekend. They certainly got their collars and leashes dirty, but a quick jump in the water or a rinse in the hose or sink at home, and everything is as good as new.

Except the dogs themselves. They might need a bath!

Azalea + Leon: Dog Photography at Peggy's Cove

On a beautifully warm summer evening last year, I headed out to Peggy's Cove to meet up with Azalea, Leon, and their mum for a special East Coast photo session. Their mum wanted something that was quintessentially Nova Scotia so that she would have these photographs of her dogs to look back on, if someday their adventures took them to a new province.

Peggy's Cove was the perfect choice!

Azalea the Boston Terrier is full of sass, and Leon the Pug is deaf and nearly blind... so they make a unique but very loving duo. It's adorable to see them together (you should follow their mum's account on Instagram, too! @saltydog.petsitting).

We started off near the small, colourful houses and shops, and then finished the evening on the rocks with the lighthouse in the background. We did not go anywhere near the black rocks! Not even close.

This session was mainly for Azalea, as she is one my Ambassadogs for the 2017-2018 season, but Leon was there to show his support, and I couldn't not include him in a few portraits!

What is your favourite place that feels perfectly "East Coast"?
